Tupac sketch--hee!

So my homegirl Breanne and I are now completely obsessed with the website Etsy where crafters sell their wares because we dream of starting a crafting empire of our own and selling cool and weird things we make. Etsy can give you hours of enjoyment, because there are just thousands of completely bizarre things for sale there. My current favorite: this sketch of Tupac Shakur that is being sold for TWENTY FIVE DOLLARS!!!

P.S. The description is a must-read!

Alice's albums of da month!

[YoYoYoYoYo/Spank Rock]This album is such a good time. It is high-energy, innovative, and totally funky, like a cross between Dizzee Rascal and Lil Wayne, plus the filthiness of Tenacious D.

My Favorite Lyric: "I keep it dirty, not like Fergie/Ain’t the Black Eyed Peas/This shit ain’t happy/I’m a trashy, boastful bitch MC" (from "Bump")

***

[Tidal/Fiona Apple]This is kind of old-school, but this album is still completely hot. Fiona's voice is so sexy, mature, and knowing on this record, you almost forget she was only 19 when she made it. Good thing all of her public appearances from this era are there to remind us ("The world is bullshit!").

My Favorite Lyric: ""You say love is a hell you cannot bear/And I say give me mine back and then go there, for all I care" (from "Sleep To Dream")
***

[Mass Romantic/The New Pornographers]This album combines happy-snappy music with odd and cryptic lyrics, and somehow the combination is effing wicked. You have to love a band that can make a song about the descent into alcoholism sound like something the muppets might sing.

My Favorite Lyric: "The time that your enemy gives you/Good times are not the ones you want" (from "Letter From An Occupant")
***

[The Execution Of All Things/Rilo Kiley]Jenny Lewis's voice doesn't shine in this one as much as More Adventurous, this low-key stunner is still totally awesome. It is almost epic in its own humble, dreamy way.

My Favorite Lyric: "Then we’ll go to Omaha/To work and exploit the booming music scene" (Woop woop Nebraska reference!) (from "The Execution Of All Things")
***

Honorable Mention: [Alright, Still/Lilly Allen], [Pick A Bigger Weapon/The Coup], [Citrus/Asobe Seksu]
Please tell me what you guys have been listening to!!!

Sorry! Again! Some more!

I know I am a total liar and I haven't been posting like I promised, but it's because I've been contemplating a few changes in the blog's format. I still want to continue as a photoblog as much as I can, with lots of personal style posts and pictures of random stuff I've found, but I think I'll also start posting some "editorial" things, so-to-speak, probably mostly about music. That'll keep me more engaged in the whole blog-thing, and make the site more rich, well-rounded, and interesting. Thanks guys! A tout à l'heure!

Sorry

Concerned reader Molly, from the fantastic blog Ashcan Rantings inquired as to why I haven't been posting lately. I have not fallen off the face of the Earth, I have just been feeling sort of apathatic and bitchy since school started again. I swear I will snap out of it and get to taking pictures of stylish Nebraskans soon, so expect a few posts this week. And I will start commenting on your blogs again soon, sorry!
P.S. I am incredibly flattered that anyone would notice the absence of this little blog, so vielen Dank to you, Molly!

New Years Eve pictures!

Tom and I hung out with some dear friends for New Years Eve, it was it was great fun. Here is Tom in the jacket from his vintage Polo suit. Very dashing.

I haven't once posted a picture of myself on this blog, so here are nine of them. Goofy ones.

Plus this one... My favorite!

Cult.UNL on Acid Free's website

The wonderful local 'zine, Acid Free Lincoln, has pimped this very blog on their website. Check it out!

Doodles

I think these old doodles of my brother's that I found in a notebook would be great printed on t-shirts. Put in your orders now! (Note: I've taken the liberty of naming them.)

Gas Mask Man

Medieval Guys Fighting

Shocked Homosexual

This one, I think, would be especially stylin'.

Defense of Joanna Newsom

Okay, this is just random, but it makes me sad and I felt like posting it. Why does Rolling Stone insist on picking on Joanna Newsom???? I know her aesthetic doesn't appeal to everyone, but God, there's no need to harp. And besides, she's so cute!
EDIT: No need to harp! Hee! I didn't even notice that when I was writing it!

Return of CULT.UNL... sort of

So I've been taking a quick hiatus from the bloglife to freak out about school, but I will be back. Since winter break is upon us, I won't be able to take pictures on campus for a while, but I might post a few random shots over break. Here is one, it's my little brother, wearing [guess what!] Ralph Lauren.
